Documentary Research Centre

Canterbury Museum’s Documentary Research Centre is a rich store-house of visual and written heritage about Canterbury people, places and history. It also holds world-renowned collections telling some of the amazing stories of Antarctic exploration.

At the Centre you can explore material from the following collections:

• Pictorial: including photographs, artworks and architectural plans
• Manuscripts: including original documents such as diaries, letters and records of organisations
• Library: including maps, published information and biographical indexes

Knowledgeable staff are happy to assist and can provide copies of photographs and many documents. Reproduction and copying fees and conditions will apply.
The Documentary Research Centre is located on Level 3.

Opening hours are 1.00 pm – 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. The Centre is closed at the weekend, Christmas, New Year and other public holidays.
